In the halls of AMS, you will find Rosten Hamman a dedicated teacher whose passion for life can be seen in the classroom and his everyday activities. Rosten has 13 years of teaching experience and is now in his fifth year teaching 6th grade at Angola.
Outside the classroom, Rosten claims to be boring just enjoying life's small things. You can find him playing music, particularly the guitar, cooking up a storm (a lover of food and smoked meats), or unwinding with family, wrestling with his kids after a busy day.
A personal achievement Rosten is particularly proud of is his role as a father of two. He likes to challenge himself outside the classroom, recently completed a half Ironman, and is now gearing up for the full challenge. He is always learning new things such as pickleball and audio editing.
Rosten's favorite book is, "The Lord of the Rings," this fantasy epic not only sparks his imagination but also reflects his adventurous spirit, a trait that fuels his dream of visiting New Zealand. He’s captivated by the country’s breathtaking hiking sites and its connection to the beloved fantasy series.
Teaching is not just a career for Rosten; it's a calling deeply rooted in his family legacy. With both his grandfather and father having careers in education, teaching came naturally to him. Inside and outside the classroom, he is driven by the belief that people are more capable than they think. His philosophy centers on helping students gain confidence, nurturing relationships, and encouraging them to believe in their own potential, his motto is be 1% better ever day. He also relies on his own experience with a speech impediment to foster empathy and understanding with all students. In the classroom, Rosten’s favorite subjects to teach are multimedia, creative thinking, and problem-solving. He enjoys igniting curiosity and innovation in his students.
His achievements, passions, and philosophy illustrate a man dedicated to making a positive impact on those around him, both in and out of the classroom. We are proud to spotlight this amazing teacher and person.
