The Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) requires that all students in grades 3-8 participate in three ILEARN Checkpoints in addition to the ILEARN summative assessment in the spring each year. These Checkpoints are a component of the ILEARN through-year assessment for English/Language Arts (ELA) and Math. The window for the first Checkpoint opens the last week of September.
The Checkpoints occur seasonally in fall, winter, and spring, with an optional retest opportunity window opening concurrently. Each Checkpoint has 20-25 questions to show how an individual child is performing on key skills and concepts from the Indiana Academic Standards. Families may refer to the link below, which provides a flyer for each grade level, outlining the skills and concepts that will be assessed for each Checkpoint.

Following all fall testing, your child's school will send you an email with directions to access the new Family Portal, where you will be able to access your child's results. Make sure your email is up to date in Final Forms so you can get your Family Portal access code following the test window.

7th grade students at AMS dove into hands-on learning while exploring the topic of energy. They investigated energy claims and worked to answer the question: Do all systems have energy? Using kits, students experimented with different types of energy to spin a propeller. They tested the system using a hand crank, a battery, and solar power. Hands On. Minds On.

Join us before the Angola High School football game to enjoy the Kid’s Zone! A big thank you to Cameron Health for this fun addition to our Friday Night Lights. AHS takes on Fremont High School with kickoff at 7:00 PM—don’t miss it!

The plaque has arrived, school is back in session, and we are thrilled to celebrate the record-breaking performance of Owen Fletcher!
On May 24, 2025, at the Indiana Middle School Track Meet hosted on the Indiana State University campus, Owen set a new Angola Middle School record in the 1600-meter run. Owen, the son of Josh and Ashley Fletcher, is now a proud member of the Angola High School Cross Country Team.
The previous record of 4:43 was set in 1981 by Kent Mahnesmith, a standout athlete who graduated with the Angola High School Class of 1985. Kent went on to run for the University of Indianapolis and earned his Law Degree from Valparaiso University School of Law in 1993. Sadly, Kent passed away on October 30, 2011, due to an ATV accident.
